Here, stones
\nhold in the river.
\nI walk between them
\nbaffled by extravagance
\nof flowers white purple large as toy trumpets.
\nGenerosity of summer night:
\nbright playthings: embroidered skirts scarves paper lilies
\nswaying above us.<\/p>\n

<\/strong>My language
\nhas few words for flowers.
\nOur ancestor
\nwas a man of stones.
\nHe learned how to live with stones,
\nhow to work with them,
\nto make them work…
